Q: I have a user running Exchange Server 2007 on Windows Server 2008 and she has not backed up her data since the initial install. There are several log files that are taking up space on the drive. Is it possible to delete some of the log files, then back up the client's Exchange server?
Sep 21, 2017 In this blog will discuss how to manually move and truncate Logs in Exchange server 2013. Here you can find some ways to truncate/move these logs, i.e. Transaction logs. Queue Database. Transport Logs. IIS log files. Logging Folder. Managing Exchange Server 2007 log files (Part 1) Managing Exchange Server 2007 log files (Part 3) Introduction. In the first article of this series we saw how to enable debug in Exchange Server 2007 using Set-EventLogLevel cmdlet. In this article and the next one we will continue looking at logs configuration in Exchange Server 2007.
A: This is not possible because these are transaction log files for the Exchange database and are an essential part of your database. You need to run an Exchange-aware backup of the server. Running the backup will flush the logs properly. Your client should be running an Exchange-aware backup regularly, otherwise the log files will fill up the Exchange server disks, which will result in Exchange shutting down.
